Help on Email

This is a detailed explanation, how D-A-S-H mail can be configured in a standard email client. This example has been done in the email client thunderbird, an open source, free of charge and freely accessible client that is available on all standard platforms (windows, linux, mac).

1. The Account settings are being configured in the menu
>Tools / >Account Settings
There you'll find the following menu:

Go to "Add Account". A dialog will start after that.

Add your name and email address.

Choose whether you want to use your address as a pop3 account or as IMAP. This demonstration is made for pop3, which makes sense in most cases.

So choose "POP" and add "idash.org" as the incoming mailserver.

All D-A-S-H email accounts use their email address as their username. So fill in your email address here.

Chose any name - this will only be displayed locally in your client.

Click on "Finish". Now we're back in the menu Tools / Account settings.

Go to the menu "Server Settings" and choose the first option "Use Secure Connection (SSL)".

After that go to the menu "Outgoing Server (SMTP) and enable the option "TLS, if available".

Save all settings by clicking on "OK". When you get your mail now for the first time, the following dialog will appear. We suggest you click on the first option: "Accept this certificate permanently".

The following diaog will always appear when you get you mail. You need to click on "OK" every time.

Enter you password. If you want to save it, use the password manager.

That's it. Have fun with your new email address.

If you want to configure an alias additionally in the client, follow the next steps.

Go to back to >Tools / >Account Settings. Go to the first option, which is having the name of you email account, that you just configured. Go to "Manage Identities..."

Choose "Add Identity", and go through the following dialog. All you need to do is add your desired name and the alias (email address) and check "ok".

Now you're all set. The alias - emails will be in your incoming account and when you send emails, you can now chose whether you are sending from your account address or from the alias address, in the drop-down menu at: "FROM".
