Upload a video file to the V2V network
  fls  03/16/2004 - 17:44  Array

In order to upload a video file to the V2V network you have to perform the following three steps:

1. Encode and save your video file as a vp3 encoded quicktime or avi file

Please follow the V2V naming convention:

v2v_myfilename.mov|avi

Check the HOWTO at:

http://v2v.cc/info.php#vp3

2. go to http://www.v2v.cc/form and fill the form with some information about your film

Submitting the form will generate a .info file that will be downloaded automatically to your hard drive

Please rename that metafile exactly like your .mov/.avi videofile but with the extension .info

3. Connect via ftp to one of the V2V ftp upload servers such as coyote1.kein.org

login: gnudeo
password:

Change directory (cd) to incoming

Create a new directory which is called like your .mov|avi and .info file but without that extension i.e.

mkdir v2v_myfilename

Change directory (cd) to this new directory

Upload both your video file and your .info file into this directory i.e.

mput v2v_myfilename.avi|mov mput v2v_myfilename.info

Again: the naming convention is:
v2v_myvideofile/v2v_myvideofile.mov|avi v2v_myvideofile/v2v_myvideofile.info

That's it... now the scripts create the P2P metafiles and start an automatic mirroring of your video onto all other V2V servers and include the information about your video into the rss/rtf feed!

People who want to watch the video can visit one of the sites that publish the rss/rtf feed, such as http://v2v.cc and start downloading the film with their prefered P2Pclient (bit orrent, edonkey, gnutella)
