Most people have approached Mundos Soñados as a glossy tourist magazine to be found anywhere: airports, malls, social centres, to find after a little while that it's not a common magazine: those "guardia civil" shadows in the front page, the warship in the skyline, the "botijo" under the palm tree... The rest of the magazine goes along the same lines, flashy images of happiness and enjoyment. There's not a single image that does not come from tourist magazines, except for the "guardias civiles" of course.

But then on the text level you may find the latest information about detention centres, deportation figures, or the new military policies involving recruitment of "foreigners" as a way to get papers. One cannot help laughing at some of the contrasts about what looks like the classical distance between facts and oficial representations, but this time the distance is specially plenty of ironies.

But you may also come accross the magazine running into any of the male air-hostesses, with their uniforms: mini-skirts and blue jackets belonging to SIBERIA, deportation airlines. The polite air-hostesses will surely be in their portable travel agency, with their big displays and deportation-class counter. In a country where even oficial initiatives are often poorly introduced this level of high quality equipment is specially devastating. The inmediate result is making the distribution and discussion of hard political information something much easier; but it also brings to mind what is it that's so inverse and bizarre about the way of life where there are air-hostesses and exclusive-inclusive resorts in countries where we go to enjoy a theme-park like abundance and from where people flee out of despair for lacking opportunities for a decent life.

In Spain after the last round of "encierros" the political scenario for the self organized migrants groups and the solidarity groups has become increasingly harder. The inmediate result of the encierros, specially the failure of some of them to provide a solution that was valid generally and politically realistic for the people engaged in the process of getting papers for themselves, was the disarticulation of anything ressembling a solidarity network in the spanish arena. Mundos Soñados has also been an attempt to rebuild the channels and the attitudes of common work after these hard years, through the basic search of what can be used to rebuild a network: shared tools and capabilities.
