With 30.000 visitors a month, 50 articles and more than 100 video reports made, they are a fresh breeze through the foggy and dull landscape of ‘doing good’ sites.

[image:189,right] After four years of struggle with the Dutch ministry of culture De Nieuwe Omroep – The New Broadcasting Network – has finally succeeded. The network has been granted to make 100 hours of television and 450 hours of radio in 2005 on one of the national channels. In the last few years it has been publishing refreshing video reports, articles and weblogs about human rights, environmental issues and global proportions. Focussed on solutions instead of problems, De Nieuwe Omroep strives for practical idealism. “There are so many great initiatives out there”.

The small room with all the computer is more then overcrowded. Over 50 young people are swarming on metal chairs, crouching on the floor or following the workshop from the neighboring directing room.

Young activists and community leaders produced "34 messages" during the Youth Organizing Institute held in Vukovar on October 8-14, 2004. The focus of this film-project was to find a creative use of technology to develop community building within the diverse group of students and faculty involved.

The 7th International Art+Communication festival will take place in Riga, Latvia, from September 30 - October 3, 2004. The festival will offer a space of exchange for new media practitioners and grassroots activists and who are critically exploring ideas of locality, in response to the continental European (and global) "normalization processes".

Minority Report: Challenging Intolerance in Contemporary Denmark is an interdisciplinary exhibition, which investigates the premises for the more outspoken intolerance towards and among ethnic minorities in Denmark during recent years. The show is the first in a series of recurring international art exhibitions, which the City Council of Aarhus has initiated under the heading Aarhus Festival of Contemporary Art.

"Mapping right wing extremism" was the aim of a panel debate in the students club in the heart of Novi Sad old town on August 5, 2004. Young people from all over Brandenburg in Germany discussed with young activists from Vojvodina strategies against xenophobia and right wing extremism. The video mix of this debate is available here.
