At the moment D-A-S-H does not offer anonymous email addresses, but can set up an account on request. This offer, however, is not automated because we are interested in getting and keeping in touch with those using D-A-S-H.

How can I get my emails?

D-A-S-H email addresses, which run under the domain https://emdash.org unless otherwise agreed, support all current protocols: whether POP3, IMAP or Webmail, you can read your emails practically always as long as you have got an internet connection. We are more than willing to answer any questions that might arise concerning the advantages and disadvantages of the respective protocols and about how to use them intelligently.

How secure are D-A-S-H email accounts?

We try to guarantee a maximum of security, reliability and data protection as possible. At the moment when emails are being downloaded, passwords are only transferred encoded. Apart from that D-A-S-H offers support in the use of encrypting software, as for instance PGP.

Does D-A-S-H set up a mailinglist for me?

Dash is currently hosting hundreds of mailinglists, which are based on the open source programs mailman and sympa. The mailinglists are administrated via a web interface which is easy to use and which supports many European languages. Please send the title, aim and character of the mailinglist to the D-A-S-H Team.

Of course, you can! We are quite experienced in moving mailinglists from commercial providers to D-A-S-H. Please send us a mail, that tells us which list you want to move and we will assist you in transferring subscriber lists and archives.

What have I got to do when I want to move my web site to D-A-S-H?

Moving a web site is normally no big deal. You ought to find out under which conditions your web site has been administered so far, who registered the DOMAIN and who has administrated it. We certainly cannot give any general recommendations as far as content management systems are concerned, but we can bring you in contact with other DASH users, so that you'll be able to exchange experiences about the diverse solutions realized by DASH projects with them, so you can decide yourself what will suit you best.

What is domain hosting?

Domain hosting means setting up server places and simultaneously manage the name requests for specific domains, as for instance www.D-A-S-H.org or www.myproject.de. That means that with the aid of virtual web servers you can be reached in the world wide web under a name you chose yourself beforehand without having to run your own server, because you are still hosted on the D-A-S-H server.

Yes, because D-A-S-H offers complete domain hosting. That means that you can use all the common internet services via D-A-S-H and publish them under your own domain.

Does D-A-S-H run an own name server?

D-A-S-H is even running two own neme server: ns1.d-a-s-h.org and ns2.d-a-s-h.org, which you should declare at the registration service, as soon as you've registered you're own domain, that you want to have hosted by D-A-S-H.

Can I register a domain at D-A-S-H?

There are several reasons why D-A-S-H is not offering a domain registration service. We suggest to always register the domain yourself. After that, always declare the D-A-S-H nameserver as your nameserver. This is importand in order to keep as much control as possible over your domain in your own hands.

Can I store audio or video streams on the D-A-S-H server?

D-A-S-H set up a separate server for multimedia services with the needed broadband connection. There you can deposit your audio and video files and embed them in your homepages, without having to set up your own streaming server. D-A-S-H is currently running a Real- server for audio and video streaming as well as an Icecast server for audio streams. The setup of a quicktime server is in progress right now.

Yes of course you can. Connect via your chat-client or with the help of a webinterface to the D-A-S-H Chatroom and just open up a new chat: /join #newchat
